The Odyssey
So we got a short run of discs pressed, and managed to get out onto the road to do a bit of support for the disc and play a handfull of shows. They were great, and we had lots of fun.
At GenCon in Indianapolis IN Aug 12, we opened up the anual Cruciform injection show at Radio Radio, and were recieved with much enthusiasm. Everybody was ultra enthusiastic and very supportive. Eric Dusik of PTI joined me on stage for the duration of the show, and the still recovering Aleks joined us to perfom the last two tracks. It was our great audience that made this show such a success. Also, Aleks' special lady friend Suzie punched WierdSketch in the arm, and he retaliated quickly by throwing a drink in her face. It was unexpected, shocking, and hilarious. Thanks to Micah, Tufty and the Radio Radio staff... you guys rock.
At the Mission In Elgin IL September 3, we were quite excited to be playing in the chicago area for the first time. A lot of our friends were able to make it out and every body had a great time. We stomped the shit out of the club and had a great vibe going. Aleks was able to join us for the duration of the set, and all was glorious. I am a little wary of the payment technique that the promoter used, that is, every person paying ot get in was asked whom they were there to see, which is then calculated into per capita pay for each band. No less than three of our close personal friends paid, but were not asked who they were there to see, meaning that somebody in the chain was pocketing our cash. But all is well that ends well, and we had a lot of fun. Thanks to Vav for being a badass sound engineer, and thanks to SGL Entertainment for hosting the event.
Last but certainly not least, fucking Cleveland. We Played the Electrophest 2k6 last night, September 9. We busted our asses to get out there friday night, had a few cold ones with our friends and labelmates Filament38. Got up early, and arived at the Phantasy right on time for our super early load in at 12:00. We were the first ones there so we got the best parking spot for load in. Apparently Voice Industrie cancelled the rest of there tour and were no longer going to be playing. So the schedule got moved around and we ended up getting a better bill and ended up being on the second stage at 19:30... yay. So we did our thing, and I hurt my knee. It was a good set. Unfortunatley the sound guy was a bit lazy, and he did't want to have to deal with carying his subs up the stairs, and we had no bass. This is not condusive to Electro music, but whatever.
Fast Forward: 02:00 Sunday morning. We are loading out after a substantial amount of PBR and chatting girls up, and notice that we have a flat tire... no wait... 2 flat tires... mother fucker. 4 FLAT TIRES. Someone slashed our tires, and our tires alone. Not one single other car on the whole block got hit. So either we are severely unlucky, or some dickless motherfucker slashed our tires for pretty much no reason. We were nothing but nice to everybody we met, so we are rather confused as to what the motive behind this bull shit was. I got really pissed and hit a brick wall hard enough to make me bleed. I developed a series of potentiall scenarios that could have triggered this event. One was that someone slashed our tires in hopes that we would leave our fan on the street, and then come back later to jack our gear. So Aleks and I decided that an ambush was the best course of action. We camped out in the van overnight in a constant state of alert readiness, much like the United States Marine Corps. After sunrise Ash and Eric made their way back to us, and we hobbled the van across the street to the tire shop, where Aleks dropped $500 on new tires to reactivate the Overlord. And then we go home.
I would like to mention that Damon, our promoter for this event was extremely helpfull in this crisis, and was greatly appreciated in his efforts to help, and in contacting the Lakewood Police department. Ash and Creep remained as always loyal and generous friends, and The Gothsicles were rad drinking buddies as per usual. Caustic does the best cover of "Do the Hustle" ever generated by man. Thanks again to Damon, Ash and Lana for letting us crash at their house, and everyone that helped this event to happen.
TO THE WANKER WHO SLASHED OUR TIRES: FUCK YOU.
